OTH561 - Guidelines for trenching design of submarine pipelines

Trenching of subsea pipelines is employed to improve on-bottom stability and to provide protection against trawling activities. In the water depths typical of the central and northen North Sea trenching is rarely required for stability reasons but, with there being extensive fishing activity, trenching is used to provide protection.
