Finite element analysis and experimental tests to establish the effects of mixed mode loading on the ultimate strength behavior of tubular joints relevant to offshore structures. The finite element analyses have been carried out on a series of geometrics involving mode I and mode III loading individually, and mixed mode loading in pipe to plate joints as a basis for reassessing tubular joints analysed in previous investigation.
