The twenty-seventh meeting of the Research Ethics Committee will be held on Wednesday 13 March 2002 in the Hope Room, Rose Court. The meeting will begin at 10.30am

1. Minutes of the twenty-sixth meeting - 27 November 2001 (ETHCOM/MIN/01/04)
2. Matters arising (not covered by agenda)
(i) oral update on submissions considered at previous meetings:
- A comparison between the staging for hand-arm vibration syndrome derived from a simple questionnaire and that de-rived from a full medical assessment with objective testing in a population undergoing health surveillance. (ETHCOM/REG/01/12)
- The identification of questions or objective tests which are most predictive of final staging in a population undergoing health surveillance for hand-arm vibration syndrome (ETHCOM/REG/01/13)
- Objective tests in the diagnosis of the vascular component of Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (ETHCOM/REG/01/14)
- Clinical and immunological changes in endotoxin exposed workers (ETHCOM/REG/01/15)
- Investigation of the use of mining industry respiratory pro-tective devices under conditions of high heat and humidity (ETHCOM/REG/01/16)
3. New proposals for consideration
- Correlation between vibration emission and vibration during use - Impact wrenches (ETHCOM/REG/02/02)
- Correlation between vibration emission and vibration during use - Grinders (ETHCOM/REG/02/03)
- Correlation between vibration emission and vibration during use - Die grinders (ETHCOM/REG/02/04).
The above three projects are closely linked and will be considered together
- Presence of specific IgE antibodies to bacterial amylase, and other commonly used enzymes in bakery workers (ETHCOM/REG/02/05)
- Presence of specific IgE antibodies to detergent enzymes in detergent factory workers (ETHCOM/REG/02/06).
The above two projects are closely linked and will be considered together.
- Diagnosis of the vascular and musculoskeletal components of hand-arm vibration syndrome (ETHCOM/REG/02/07)
- Risks associated with pushing and pulling (ETHCOM/REG/02/08)
- Evaluation of field and laboratory effectiveness of whole body coveralls (ETHCOM/REG/02/09)
