Describes existing team working research concerning employee mental health, as well as reporting on the results of 3 studies conducted by the authors. Based on these studies and the analysis of existing research, a model for understanding team working and its impact on employee mental health is proposed. States that by proactively considering factors on working characteristics eg: appropriateness of the context for team working, the design of the team working, and how well team working is implemented, employers introducing team working can make positive choices that enrich work characteristics and thereby enhance employees' mental health.
