Reducing carbon monoxide incidents

Aimed at addressing indoor air quality and reducing the number of carbon monoxide (CO) related incidents throughout Europe, the work has proceeded in three main areas, namely a) Identifying the scope which exists for CO poisoning statistics to identify and address specific causes b) Assessing the potential for obtaining practical measurements of indoor air contamination linked to the use of gas in the home c) Assessing current medical information associated with indoor air pollution and producing an awareness video to assist the medical profession in diagnosing CO intoxication. Recommends further consultation with gas utilities and gas stakeholders in Europe, to agree a common European strategy and reporting process; the results of which should be made available to all member states for thorough assessment and with the intention of improving the safety record in the European Union for gas related CO incidents.
