Welcome

RP News is back, and it returns to you in a new format! No cause for alarm, no radical changes, but the time had come for an overhaul. So what’s new? Well, from now on, rather than wait the customary six months (or so!) for a new issue of ‘RP News’ to be published online, this site will be updated as and when articles are prepared. This should mean that relevant information is available to you more quickly .

Historically RP News (including ADS News) has covered only ionising radiation. From 2008, RP News will also include non-ionising radiation issues. Why? Well, the adoption by the EU of Physical Agents Directives on Optical Radiation and EMFs will require the UK to make new legislation in due course so now seemed an opportune time to expand the RP News remit.

Once you have had the opportunity to explore a little, you will see that all the old issues are still retrievable by date/issue number as they were previously. Now though, articles dating from 2000 onwards have also been catalogued by topic/s so that the search for that vital bit of information that the ‘old grey matter’ just can’t retrieve is easier. The plan is for new articles to be accessible on this frontpage for approximately six months after which time they will be searchable by topic or publication date.

These developments have been designed to make things that little bit easier for you. I hope that you will agree that they have been worthwhile. Your views are welcome, as are any articles that may be of general interest to the target readership. Please submit offerings via email to the following address: rpnewseditor@hse.gsi.gov.uk
