The Notification of Conventional Tower Cranes Regulations 2010 (the 'Regulations') come into force on 6 April 2010. The Regulations require certain information about conventional tower cranes used on construction sites to be notified to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Although not a legal requirement, you could help to reassure the public that your crane has been registered by downloading and printing this poster and displaying it in a prominent position. To give it maximum exposure, you should:

  • If possible print it in colour;
  • Print it as large as possible;
  • Attempt to make it weather proof;
  • Complete the site contact name and telephone number;
  • Display it on site hoardings alongside the public highway so the public can see it clearly.

The Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA) has kindly agreed to issue free pre-printed weather proof posters to their members who hire out cranes to the industry. Those CPA members will in turn issue a poster to companies who hire a crane from them. Stocks of these posters are limited, and are expected to last for one year only from the date the Regulations come into force. Thereafter, posters will only be available as a free download.
