This guide is for anyone who has duties under the Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (Management and Administration) Regulations 1995 (MAR), for example installation operators and owners, installation managers, safety representatives, safety committee members and others involved with offshore activities.
Please note that MAR was amended by the Offshore Installations (Offshore Safety Directive) (Safety Case etc) Regulations 2015, which came into force on 19 July 2015. MAR now includes: requirements for notifying and registering the death or loss of a person; requirements to provide accommodation and subsistence for inspectors of installations and pipelines, and safety zones regulations. The meaning of 'Offshore Installation' in regulation 3 has also been amended to make it consistent with the definitions across HSE offshore safety legislation.
