One of a series of Approved Codes with accompanying guidance aligned to a very specific part of the wider Regulations it supports. This particular document reflects regulation 6 and accordingly advises on how employers must meet the requirements of ventilation, ignition avoidance and adequate separation measures to prevent or mitigate the risks of fire and explosion when dangerous substances are stored at the workplace.
Applicable to employers and self-employed at most workplaces in Great Britain where a dangerous substance is, or could be, present. Styled presentation (eg bold, italics, colour-coding) enables easy distinction between texts pertaining to the Regulations, the Approved Code or additional guidance.
HSE has recently consulted on proposals to review its Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs). Details of proposals and the outcome of the consultation are available.
