On 1 January 2018 Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) replaced IRR99.

The Approved Code of Practice and guidance in the draft below now applies. It gives advice and direction on how to meet the requirements in the regulations.

Main changes to legislation

Eye dose limit reduced – the dose limit for exposure to the lens of the eye has been reduced from 150mSv to 20mSv in a year.  

Notifying the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) – for the work you do with ionising radiation, you must now notify, register or get consent from HSE.
