Contains the Approved Code and additional guidance as aligned to the Regulations, with relevant citations provided intended to protect those working at a quarry and others who may be affected by quarrying activities. Regulations apply to both employees and the self-employed and also exist to safeguard those not working at the quarry but may be living, passing or working nearby, or perhaps visiting the site.
In addition to general health and safety management requirements and matters of risk control, the document also examines specifics such as explosives, excavations and other pertinent subjects. Styled presentation (eg bold, italics and margin coding) enables easy distinction between texts directly pertaining to the Regulations, those of the Approved Code or the additional guidance provided.
HSE has recently consulted on proposals to review its Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs). Details of proposals and the outcome of the consultation are available.
