Guidance on the design, construction, operation and maintenance of installations for the storage of hydrochloric acid and the storage of nitric acid in fixed tanks. Applies to new installations and to existing fixtures where reasonably practicable. Chiefly for managers and supervisors but may be of interest to designers and installers.
Much advice is common to both nitric and hydrochloric acid, but where it differs this is specified. In addition to general issues such as training and risk assessment, there are details on bunding, vents and overflows, fume scrubbers, pipework, valves, pumps, signage and labelling, tanker offloading and deliveries into metal pickling baths.
