Charity and voluntary workers: A guide to health and safety at work
This broad scope, though substantial, introductory guide to the essentials is the result of a three-party joint project between the Health and Safety Executive, the Charities Safety Group and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
Providing basic advice to the sector, it acknowledges the possibility that many charity and voluntary workers have an understandably limited knowledge of workplace health and safety and accordingly seeks to cover the main aspects they must be aware of in order to meet legal duties. Broken down into notable chapters – covering aspects such as charity shops, driving and transport, moving and handling, lone working, violence at work and several others – it draws on actual case studies.
