Safe use and handling of flammable liquids
Addressed to those with responsibility for use of flammable liquids in general work activities, including batch or small scale chemical processing. The primary emphasis is naturally on the headline risks of fire and explosion hazards. Accordingly, safety specialists and trade organisations or associations may use this as a basis for more specific guidance for their own members. Refers to flammable liquids with a flashpoint of 55 °C or below.
The publication has a four-fold intention to: increase awareness of the hazards and the precautions needed when using such liquids; advise on safe operating procedures; offer guidance on the appropriate standards for plant and equipment; and advise on the need for appropriate fire precautions, maintenance, training and good housekeeping.
