Keep it moving: do it safely

New second edition of Workplace transport safety: An employers’ guide

Have you made sure your workplace transport is safe?

A variety of vehicles are used for many different tasks every day in workplaces nationwide, and some of these tasks can be dangerous. Every year, about 50 people die as a result of vehicle accidents in the workplace, and thousands are seriously injured.

This new edition aims to help employers, managers and supervisors make accidents involving workplace transport less likely. It will also be useful for safety representatives, self-employed people, contractors, vehicle operators, other employees, trade associations, commercial landlords and other organisations concerned with workplace transport safety.

The information is suitable for medium and large industrial and commercial sites, but should also be useful for smaller businesses and for places such as construction sites, quarries, farms and forestry operations.

It provides some background to workplace transport safety and gives advice to people responsible for a workplace on how they can make sure that workplace transport is safe. It advises on common vehicle operations, some risks associated with them, and how to deal with safety for each type of operation.
