Broad subject guidance, reflecting statistical evidence showing that manual handling causes more than a third of reported work injuries each year. Addressed to employers to help reduce the risk of injury in areas where assessment shows there is a danger, whether in heavy industry or situations where only very occasional manual handling is required.
Outlining some basic and simple solutions, each study area is illustrated alongside a short explanatory paragraph. While advice is given on the avoidance of manual handling, the guide acknowledges that the nature of some industries makes this impossible and accordingly offers solutions in alignment with the Manual Handling Regulations 1992 (as amended).
