Type Description

Fixed

Locations where activities are usually permanent e.g. factories, farms, schools, hospitals, laboratories and offices. Includes both fixed and travelling fairground sites, landfill sites and multi-occupancy (S122) buildings including Nuclear plant.

An upper tier site for the purposes of the administration of the COMAH Regulations.

Fixed Site COMAH Lower

A Lower Tier site for the purposes of the administration of the COMAH Regulations.

An explosives site at which blasting explosives are manufactured, stored, tested or destroyed

Fixed Site Exp Mixing

Fixed Site Exp Classification

A site which has, or is applying for, an explosives classification under the Classification and Labelling of Explosives Regulations 1983.

Fixed Site Exp Authorisation

A site which has, or is applying for, an explosives authorisation under the Explosives Act 1875 as modified by the Placing on the Market and Supervision of Transfers of Explosives Regulations 1993

Fixed Site Exp Fireworks

An explosives site at which fireworks are manufactured, stored, tested or destroyed

Fixed Site Exp Initiating Devices

An explosives site at which initiating devices are manufactured, stored, tested or destroyed

Fixed Site Exp Licensed Port

A site which has, or is applying for, a licence under Part IX of the Dangerous Substances in Harbour Areas Regulations 1987

Fixed Site Exp Licensed Factory

A site which has, or is applying for, a factory licence under the Explosives Act 1875

Mobile

Mobile not fixed locations

Roadside

May be used when there is a particular need to record where a vehicle is inspected on a road for checks on compliance with legislation concerning carriage of dangerous substances.

Pipeline Onshore MH

An onshore pipeline which conveys a dangerous fluid as defined by the Pipelines Safety Regulations 1996

Pipeline Onshore Other

A pipeline for conveying any fluid other than air, water, water vapour or steam between two or more premises on land

Used for construction work at locations where HSE has no other interest and where there is no value in holding details on the location, e.g. roof repairs to domestic property.

Used where non-construction transient work is carried out at a location where HSE has no other interest and there is no value in holding location details, e.g. gas appliance installation at domestic property

Fixed Attended

An offshore installation comprising a structure fixed to the seabed which supports ATTENDED facilities above water, i.e. with personnel normally on board. The structure may be steel or concrete, and the installation may be bridge-linked to other installat
