Case, Breach and Defendant Hit Lists and Details |

The Case hit list displays the results of your search for Cases - it provides you with a summary of the cases which met your search criteria. From here you can select an individual case to find out more Details.
What information is displayed on the case hit list?
No matter which search item you used to find Cases, the Case List will always display the Case Number, Defendant's Name, Offence Date, Local Authority and Main Activity for every case that matched your search criteria, as shown below.
It also displays the number of results that match your search criteria e.g. "134 Matching results found : Showing Page 1 of 14, results 1 to 10". The hit list displays a maximum of 10 entries per page.

How to select a case from the list
- The Case Number uniquely
identifies the Case.
By clicking on the Case Number, more Case Details are displayed.
If the Case does not appear on the first page - click on the page number link i.e. 1 2 3 4 at the bottom of the page, to view the other pages .
How to re-sort the case hit list
You can re-sort any of the following columns Case Number, Defendant's Name, Offence Date, Local Authority and Main Activity in "Ascending (A to Z)" or "Descending (Z to A)" order.
To do this, simply select one of the above column names from the drop down list and click go .

The case hit list will then refresh to display the cases in the new sort order.
The Case Detail screen contains the full description of the selected case i.e:
Scroll down the page to read the details; the information held on the case detail is illustrated below.

There are three links on the case detail, these are:
Defendant - By clicking on the actual name of the defendant, you can see more Defendant Details including; Defendant's Name, Address, Status and HSE Reference.
Breaches involved in this Case - By clicking on this link, you can see the Breaches related to the Case. If there is:
only one Breach it will take you directly to the Breach Detail
more than one Breach, then the Breach Hit List is displayed
Related Cases - On occasions an incident (e.g. a gas explosion) may lead to more than one individual or company being prosecuted. If cases did result from the same incident or investigation then they will be linked on the prosecution system. The 'Related Cases' link will only be present if HSE has made the connection. Clicking on the link will generate a hit list of 'related' cases.
The defendant details screen is accessible from the case and breach details screens, it provides further details about the individual or company who was prosecuted. It includes the Defendant's Name, Address, Status and HSE Reference.
You can also :
List all Cases involving this defendant - by clicking on this link you will see a Case Hit List of all the Cases involving the Defendant, including the Case or Breach, that you have just viewed.
List all Breaches involving this defendant - by clicking on this link you will see a Breach Hit List of all the Breaches involving the Defendant, including the Case or Breach, that you have just viewed.

The Breach hit list displays the results of your search for Breaches - it provides you with a summary of the breaches which met your search criteria. From here you can select an individual breach to find out more Details.
What information is displayed on the breach hit list?
For each Breach, you will see details such as Case/Breach Number, Defendant's Name, Hearing Date, Result, Fine and Act or Regulation as shown below.
It also displays the number of results that match your search criteria e.g. "3 Matching results found : Showing Page 1 of 1, results 1 to 3". The hit list displays a maximum of 10 entries per page.

How to select a breach from the list
- The Breach Number
uniquely identifies the Breach, it is made up from the Case Number and Breach
I.D.
By clicking on the Breach Number, more Breach Details are displayed.

A 'next' or 'back' button will appear beside the Case/Breach Number if there are other breaches - click this to view each Breach in turn.

There are three links on the breach detail, these are:
Defendant - By clicking on the actual name of the defendant, you can see more Defendant Details including; Defendant's Name, Address, Status and HSE Reference.
Case Details - By clicking on this link you can see the Case Details of the Case related to the Breach being viewed.
Other Breaches in this Case - By clicking on this link, you can see if their are other Breaches for the case.
