HSE issues new guidance on handfed platens
Following two fatal accidents, HSE has produced new guidance for all employers who use handfed platens. It covers the key issues, in particular:
- the risks from whole-body access between the platens and the use of dwell
- it shows a range of guarding options
- other important issues such as daily checks, periodic inspections
- training procedures
- isolation procedures
