HSE Press Office: Putting the record straight
Letters, The Times

Sir,
Simon Jenkins takes another opportunity (Thunderer, August 12) to attack the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). His piece is as inaccurate as it is controversial.
Work-related deaths, serious injuries (over 25,000 last year) and ill health cause individual human tragedies and generate huge costs to Britain's economy. It is sensible measures to tackle these burdens that HSE, in partnership with others, strives to secure and where it focuses resources, rather than the examples he highlights.
Yours faithfully,
Justin McCracken
