Contrary to some media reports, health and safety is not the reason why the Wimbledon authorities require tennis matches to stop at 11pm.
The All England Club has made clear that the reasons for drawing matches to a close at the chosen time reflect the planning permissions for the venue, availability of public transport and its concern for people's personal safety in travelling home at night.
HSE would like to make clear that there are no health and safety laws ordering tennis to cease at 11pm.
