HSE response to letter on workplace ventilation in H&V News

Letter:
"Building's breach of ventilation regulations" - H&V News, 20 June 2012
Response date:
22 June 2012

Dear Editor,

I would like to reassure your readers that the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) takes any complaints it receives about workplace conditions extremely seriously (Building's breach of ventilation regulations, 20 June).

We carried out a thorough investigation after a former employee at Emerson House in Eccles raised concerns about the ventilation of the building.

This included visiting the site, bringing in experts from the national Health and Safety Laboratory to take accurate measurements, and interviewing employees, management and union representatives.

We are satisfied that the building fully meets its legal requirements for ventilation and we will therefore not be taking any further action.

Yours faithfully

John McGrellis
Principal Inspector
Health and Safety Executive
