Well he died on the day he was supposed to finish work.

And he couldn't wait to finish work he was having voluntary redundancy so that he could spend more time with the children.

Because they were supposed to be moving in with him. Well two days after his accident, after he died.

He used to do all the scheduling for the works so that when they had a job they wanted done he'd just like organise everything you know.

What tools they wanted

and things like that

and that's what happened that day, he was telling the forklift truck driver which is what they used to do what do you need to take to where

which he did every day he was there and this one day the driver hadn't been on it long enough, didn't have any training

and switched the switch the wrong way and it reversed instead of going forward.

And that was that basically.

My life's not the same any more.

I just find it really hard to get to everything. If it wasn't for Ash and Tash his two children I don't know what I'd do

I really don't.

It's not just what's happened to poor Darren you know it sends ripples out from there.

I know it's affected his friends a lot as well you know his best friends and things so.

There's a lot of people that have lost so much from their lives you know.

And the the Stereophonics come on the radio, because he was Stereophonics mad, he used to sing lovely, had a lovely voice.

Used to go to karaoke and things, used to sing.

Every time I hear the Stereophonics I can hear him singing which is nice but it really upsets me.

Now people have been more aware since Darren's accident of people I know who drive forklift trucks.

My nephew drives one occasionally, well Darren was allowed to drive one he'd passed his test himself.

I think people should be a bit more health and safety aware of what's going on especially with forklift trucks such a big thing that can, well, kill you.
