High 5 for Boston builders

15 & 16 June 2010 9.30am - 3.00pm, Princess Royal Sports Arena, Great Fen Road, Boston, PE21 7PB

Construction students, apprentices and small businesses in Boston are being urged to find out more about health and safety in two free events.

The awareness days are being held on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 June and will include hands-on demonstrations of plumbing, bricklaying, plastering, roofing, electrical and other construction-related activities.

There will also be displays and a wealth of information on all aspects of health and safety during the events at the Princess Royal Sports Arena.

The events, coordinated by the South Lincoln Training Group Association with input from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Working Well Together group, will focus on five issues affecting construction site safety: tidy sites and welfare, work at height, manual handling, transport and asbestos.

Health and Safety Awareness Officer Nicola Smy said:

"Good health and safety at work relies on businesses and employees working together. At this event we hope to encourage new entrants to the construction industry to be aware of the risks they may face and take responsibility for themselves and their colleagues."

Free parking is available at the event and anyone wishing to attend should arrive at 9.30am on either of the two days.
