HSE Press Release E175:02 - 12 September 2002
As part of its contribution to October's European Week for Safety and Health, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will launch a revised web section offering information and training material on workplace stress. The launch will take place on HSE's stand at the Safety, Health & Environment Solutions (SHE) 2002 exhibition and conference which takes place on October 15/16 at the Harrogate Conference Centre.
HSE's stand will have an area dedicated to the multimedia presentation of products, programmes and services in a theatre-style environment. In addition to stress, subjects to be covered during the presentations will include COSHH essentials, asbestos, manual handling, slips and trips. Inspectors will also be on hand to offer advice.
The new stress web pages will offer detailed and regular updates covering general information, resources, and case studies. Other areas covered include the latest development on management standards and contact details for those who are keen to become more involved. There will also be a subsite which offers additional materials to help managers complete a risk assessment for work-related stress, and take action based on their findings. Employers will be invited to contribute examples of their actions on work-related stress to help develop the site further.
The European Week for Safety and Health is an annual initiative promoted in the UK by HSE. This year's Week runs from October 14 and its theme is workplace stress.
