New Official Recognition Category - Biologicals and Semiochemicals.

Following the launch of the Biopesticides scheme PSD are also introducing a new category for Official Recognition (GEP) for Biologicals and Semiochemicals. Existing certificates already cover work in these areas. However, the new category is intended to make it easier for companies working solely in these areas to enter the scheme and generate efficacy data to support product authorisations.

It has come to our attention that a number of products are currently being marketed containing pheromones or other attractants. Products marketed for use as traps are pesticide products and require an approval by the Pesticides Safety Directorate.

Guidance Concerning the Approval of Commodity Chemicals Including Sulphuric Acid as Pesticides.

This update will be of interest to manufacturers and users of commodity chemicals, including sulphuric acid. If and when these chemicals are listed on Annex 1 of European Community (EC) Regulation 91/414, it will be necessary for you to seek an approval to continue to use them as a pesticide.
