Technical assessment guides (TAGs)
The Technical Assessment Guides (TAGs) are intended to give additional guidance to ONR Specialist Inspectors beyond that in the Safety Assessment Principles for Nuclear Facilities (SAPs).
As a result of the Fukushima event, ONR has committed to revising both its SAPs and TAGs. The Fukushima Report Recommendation IR-5 work will redefine our previous programme for updating the SAPs.
As TAGs become available they will be posted on this website. The existing TAGs were developed to support the 1992 SAPs. These TAGs may continue to be used as appropriate guidance provided by using the identification reference in the SAPs 1992/2006 cross reference table, until the revised SAPs and TAGs are produced.
