To ensure that generic design assessment is carried out in an open and transparent manner, design information (the safety, security and environmental report for each design) will be published on the Requesting Party’s own website. To allow public involvement in the process, the public will be able to make comments on the design information, which the Requesting Parties will respond to.
The Regulators will oversee this process, which will be administered by the Joint Programme Office. At key stages in the process they will publish their views on the main issues raised and responded to in the public involvement process.
HSE and the Environment Agency have jointly published a leaflet which explains how the generic design assessment process works, and how the public can get involved.
