The main thrust in this period has been concerned with Bradwell’s continued compliance with the requirements of the nuclear site licence and continued progress with the decommissioning phase of the station’s lifecycle.

Routine matters

Routine Inspections

Routine inspections were carried out against the following Licence Conditions (LC) in this quarter:

LC35 - Decommissioning

Discussions were held with individual project leaders. Removal of asbestos based lagging materials from the boiler houses is progressing well. Clean up of the cooling pond and preparations for decommissioning of the pond structure and associated plant is ongoing.

Meetings

Discussions were held with the team who are producing the rebaseline (post defuelled) decommissioning safety case.  This safety case will be reviewed by NII in June/July 2007 and will be followed by an on site NII inspection to seek evidence of adequate implementation of the associated safety management arrangements.
