The Civil Nuclear Reactor Programme is headed by Acting Director, Andy Lindley.  It exists to regulate safety at operating and defuelling civil nuclear power stations. There are eight operating advanced gas-cooled reactor (AGR) sites, one operating pressurised water reactor (PWR) site, one operating magnox reactor site and four defuelling magnox-class reactor sites.

Operating nuclear power stations

Sizewell B (PWR); Hinkley Point B (AGR); Dungeness B (AGR), Heysham 1 and Heysham 2 (AGR); Hartlepool (AGR); Hunterston B (AGR); and Torness (AGR), Wylfa (magnox).

Defuelling nuclear power stations

Dungeness A (all magnox-class reactor sites: Oldbury; Chapelcross; Sizewell A)

The Decommissioning, Fuel and Waste programme covers other magnox reactor sites that have been defuelled, and are decommissioning.
