Prohibition Notice Issued - The significant accumulation of dust within this area of the station shed, which gives rise to the risk of a flash fire of dust explosion. As am employer you have not ensured that risks from a dangerous substance i.e dust is eliminated or reduced so far as is reasonably practicable 1 x Prohibition Notice - PN AM 13/8/15 1 - The was a large pile of paper dust approximately 8 feet high by 12 feet wide by 8 feet deep. There was electrical equipment in the area which was not suitable for use in an area where an explosive dust atmosphere may be present. The dust pile was such that it blocked the fire escape route to the rear of the shed. Furthermore the machinery which was used for bagging the dust was not suitably enclosed nor did it have suitable extraction to control the dust as it travelled through the machine. As a result there were large accumulations of dust all around the shed. All of the above gave rise to a risk of a fire and / or an explosion.
