If you wish to search for Notices, by geographic area, then you need to use the Geographical Search.  

Click on Geographical Search button on the Home Page.

The Geographical Search  allows you to search for Notices where:-

the Notice was issued in a specific Region (e.g. York & Humberside) or 

taken forward by a specific HSE Division (e.g. Wales and West) or

the Notice was isued in a specific Country (e.g. Scotland, England or Wales) or

the Notice was issued by the Railways Inspectorate (RI) (e.g. Nationally)*

You can also use the geographical search to find Notices using town/city or the postcode where the offence took place.

* The Railways Inspectorate (RI) do not record the location of a incident using any of the Geographical options set out above. Therefore searches against these options will exclude Notices issued by RI. The RI National link allows a search for Notices issued by RI on a national basis from the Geographical search screen.

Please Note:

Throughout the Geographical Search, you can either; select the geographic area required from a pick list, or click on the relevant area on the map provided (except for RI National).  To make locating specific areas on a map easier, each area is shown in a unique colour and a text label is displayed when you hover the "mouse pointer" over the map.

Geographical Search Examples

Find all Notices where the notice was issued in a specific Country, e.g. Scotland.

Find all Notices issued by a specific HSE Division, e.g. Wales and West.

Find all Notices where the notice was issued in a specific Region, e.g. York & Humberside.

Find all Notices where the notice was issued in a particular town e.g. Bootle

Find all Notices where the notice was issued in a particular UK postal code e.g. L20

1.  Find all Notices where the notice was issued in a specific Country

Use the following steps to find all Notices where the offence occurred in Scotland.

1    Click on Geographical button on the Home Page

2    At step 1 you must decide whether you wish to find All Notices, Improvement Notices or Prohibition Notices.

Please Note: If searching against Country, HSE Division or Region ensure the appropriate map is displayed by choosing from the list under 'Other Maps:' (See graphic below), before selecting the Notice type as the search will default back to 'All Notices' if the screen is changed.

3    Click on the appropriate button alongside the text.  

4    In the Select From List box select Scotland. or Click on the map, the area for Scotland.

Please Note: To help you determine which area of the map is Scotland, hover the "mouse pointer" over the map, a text label then appears with the name of the Country.

5    In a few moments, a hit list of Notices where the Notice was issued in Scotland is displayed. 

6   Click on the Notice Number to view the Notice in more detail e.g. Notice Summary, Location of Offence, Date Notice is issued and HSE Details.

7   Use the Back button on the Toolbar, to return to the list of Notices

2.  Find all Notices issued by a specific HSE Division

Use the following steps to find all Notices taken by Wales and West Division.

1    On the Home Page, click on Geographical Search

2    At step 1 you must decide whether you wish to find All Notices, Improvement Notices or Prohibition Notices.

3    Click on the appropriate button alongside the text.

4    In the Other Maps box select HSE Divisions.

5    In a few moments, a new map divided into  HSE Divisions  is displayed. 

6    In the Select From List box select Wales and West or Click on the map.

Please Note: To help you determine which area of the map is Wales and West  Division, hover the "mouse pointer" over the map, a text label then appears with the name of the area.

7  In a few moments, a hit list of Notices taken by Wales and West Division is displayed. 

8  Click on the Notice Number to view the Notice in more detail e.g. Notice Summary, Location of Offence, Date Notice is issued and HSE Details.

9  Use the Back button on the Toolbar, to return to the list of Breaches

  3.  Find all Notices where the notice was issued in a specific Region

Use the following steps to find all Notices where the offence occurred in York and Humberside Region.

1   On the Home Page, click on Geographical Search

2    At step 1 you must decide whether you wish to find All Notices, Improvement Notices or Prohibition Notices.

3    Click on the appropriate button alongside the text.

4   In the Other Maps box select Regions.

5   In a few moments, a new map divided into  Regions  is displayed. 

6    In the Select From List box select York and Humberside or Click on the map.

Please Note: To help you determine which area of the map is York and Humberside Division, hover the "mouse pointer" over the map, a text label then appears with the name of the area.

7   In a few moments, a hit list of Notices where the notice was issued in York and Humberside  Region  is displayed. 

8   Click on the Notice Number to view a Notice in more detail e.g. Notice Summary, Location of Offence, Date Notice is issued and HSE Details.

9   Use the Back button on the Toolbar, to return to the list of Cases

4. Find all Notices where the Notice was issued in a particular town e.g. Bootle

Use the following steps to find all Notices where the offence occurred in Bootle.

1   On the Home Page, click on Geographical Search

2    At step 1 you must decide whether you wish to find All Notices, Improvement Notices or Prohibition Notices.

3   Click on the appropriate button alongside the text.

4   Type the name of the town or city e.g. Bootle

5  Click go

6    In a few moments, a hit list of Notices where the Notice was issued in  Bootle is displayed. 

7   Click on the Notice Number to view a Notice in more detail e.g. Notice Summary, Location of Offence, Date Notice is issued and HSE Details.

8   Use the Back button on the Toolbar, to return to the list of Notices

5. Find all Notices where the Notice was issued in a particular UK postal code e.g. L20

Use the following steps to find all Notices where the Notice was issued in L20.

1   On the Home Page, click on Geographical Search

2   At step 1 you must decide whether you wish to find All Notices, Improvement Notices or Prohibition Notices.

3   Click on the appropriate button alongside the text.

4   Type part of the postcode e.g. L20

5  Click go

 
6    In a few moments, a hit list of Notices where the offence occurred in  L20 is displayed. 

7   Click on the Notice Number to view a Notice in more detail e.g. Notice Summary, Location of Offence, Date Notice is issued and HSE Details.

8   Use the Back button on the Toolbar, to return to the list of Notices
