NONS Data Entry Screens (DES) sofware

The Data Entry Screens (DES) Software is a program that is used to generate an electronic structured file for new substances that have been notified in the European Union. These files are known as SNIF files, which is an acronym for Summary Notification Interchange Format. The program is commonly referred to as SNIF. There are currently two versions of the program, Version 5.15 and Version 6.

Version 5.15 is a DOS based program and is no longer supported. It is however, still in use. Version 6 is the latest Windows based program. Notifiers are encouraged to submit their data to the competent authority in SNIF format using version 6 of the software as it speeds up processing times. Version 6 is available free of charge from The NONS unit at HSE (Address) (version 5.15 is no longer available)
