HSE REACH sample e-bulletin

Welcome to the sixteenth edition of the UK REACH Competent Authority e-bulletin.

The aim of this e-bulletin is to provide you with a free regular update of news and information from the UK REACH Competent Authority, as well as keeping you informed of any REACH issues particular to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).

Below you will find brief information on a number of topics and issues, each linking to more detailed articles on the HSE or ECHA websites.

++Defra have published a SIEF reminder on their website++

++Less than 1 month left to provide uses to registrants with a 2010 deadline++

If a substance has a 1st December 2010 registration deadline, DSUs should communicate the uses of the substance to suppliers by 30th November 2009. If the substance is used in a way the supplier intended, the DSU may consider it unnecessary to pass this information up the supply chain. If you have any questions about this, you should speak to your suppliers. However, ECHA have produced a factsheet on how to make your uses known to your suppliers.

++ECHA publishes concise guidance on Chemical Safety Assessment++

Guidance in a Nutshell on Chemical Safety Assessment is now available on the ECHA website. The document is aimed at non-experts who wish to comply with their legal obligations relating to Chemical Safety Assessments
