Severe weather causes frozen pipes in workplaces

Frozen pipes caused by severe weather means many workplaces are currently operating without basic facilities. Employers may need to make temporary arrangements to deal with these exceptional circumstances.

The law says employers must provide adequate toilet and washing facilities and drinking water for employees.

HSE will not intervene in welfare problems caused by weather conditions unless employees have first taken up the issues with employers, so they have an opportunity to sort them out.
