++ HSE is warning employers to ensure they have suitable controls in place to prevent people being struck by moving vehicles. The warning follows HSE's prosecution of a Coventry scrap and recycling business, after a worker was killed by a reversing skip lorry. The firm was fined £200,000 with costs of £55,000. EVENTS
++ HSE will be holding free events in Newport aimed at offering advice to haulage and distribution companies on managing risks from transport in the workplace. The events, which are being run jointly with local authorities in Newport and Cardiff, will include practical advice on risk assessment, as well as demonstrations including forklift safety, racking in warehouses and new technology such as CCTV reversing aids. There will be two, one-day events on March 11th and 12th, at the Corus site in Llanwern, Newport.
