Chris started work in the entertainment industry in 1973 and has worked in most sectors, providing rigging and flying for drama, opera and ballet, subsidised and commercial theatre, for television and for concert touring from the mid 70’s to the late 90’s. From 1995 Chris was one of the founders of rigging training in the UK.
Chris is the Rigging training manager at Total Solutions Group. He also provides training for managements involved with performance, events and exhibitions. These include risk management in mechanical and manual handling, writing method statements and risk assessments and in improving organisational safety culture.
Chris is a member of the National Rigging Advisory Group, Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) Safety Committee, Safety Advisors’ Group in Entertainment (‘SAGE’), Technical Associate of the National Theatre and rigging consultant to the RSC, British Standards Committee MHE3/13 (BS 7905 and 7906), Joint Advisory Committee on Entertainment (JACE), Temporary demountable structure safety working group and Work at Height Training (BS 8454/ACWaHT syllabus)

When not involved with show business, Chris trains motorcyclists for the IAM Advanced Motorcycle Test and has recently been awarded the IAM Masters certificate, the highest riding qualification available to civilian riders in the UK.
