Case 205 - Use of stationary cars and moped in school stage production

Issue

A head teacher and a school's project manager disagreed about the precautions necessary to run a school production involving stationary cars and a moped.

Panel decision

The project manager was perfectly right to raise his concerns about using vehicles inside as part of a stage production. However, with some sensible precautions being put in place there is no reason at all why the production should not go ahead as planned. Straightforward advice is readily available (from the Association of Event Venues) on the use of cars as props in public events and similar sensible measures would allow limited use of a moped indoors.

Staging imaginative productions requires imaginative thinking from all those involved to find solutions
