A retired jeweller working in a charity shop was refused permission to sell a large quantity of cleaned sterilised second hand earrings because of health and safety.
There is no health and safety legislation which prevents the sale of second hand earrings. Given that the cleaning and sterilising is being carried out by a (retired) professional jeweller who will know how to do the cleaning effectively there is no reason why the sale cannot continue.
