Case 126 - Dying man's shed to be removed due to health and safety
Enquirer noted in a newspaper that a terminally ill man spent the months up to his death constructing a shed in his back garden as a project to "keep him going" (he was a carpenter), following his death the housing association are going to remove the shed on the grounds of "Health and safety".
The only legitimate health and safety reasons for requiring the shed to be taken down would be if it was in imminent danger of structural collapse. Since the Housing Association has now decided that the shed can remain in place it was clearly not a risk to health and safety and this should never have been given as a convenient excuse. We are pleased to hear that a shed built by someone battling for life is being allowed to stay.
