A Housing Association has advised its tenants who live in a block of flats that their letter boxes need to be sealed for health and safety reasons, in case of a firebomb attack. The notice boards in the hallways have also been removed as they could be a health and safety hazard.
There appears to be no health and safety justification at all for either the decision to seal the letterboxes or the notice board removal. It is unlikely that insurers would have asked for these measures to be taken unless there was a history of arson in the area. Unless the local fire officer has asked for these measures to be taken the panel would encourage residents to continue to challenge this decision and the high handed way in which it was implemented.
