Past campaign materials

Last year over 180 organisations (from all sectors) signed up to Better Backs, pledging to carry out a wide variety of activities in support of the campaign.

These are just some of the activities, which took place last year.

  • Investigating and analysing accidents/near misses to see where improvements can be made.
  • Improving risk assessments by using the MAC tool
  • Arranging small group/team discussions on how to improve managing loads in the workplace.
  • Promotion of the campaign using internal newsletters, notice boards, emails, intranet.
  • Sharing best practice with business partners.
  • Refresher manual handling training.
  • Developing a proactive rehabilitation programme for staff returning to work after injury or illness.
  • Early referrals to physiotherapists following back injury.
  • Toolbox talks and presentations.
  • Poster competition.
  • Identifying staff who are experiencing back problems and ensuring they get the appropriate help.
  • Workplace inspections.
  • Generating articles in the local media about a Better Backs event.
