The legislation in force at 1979 was originally published in five volumes as ‘The Law relating to safety and health in mines and quarries’ which are now out of print. Much of this older legislation has been amended or replaced.
The most reliable way to access current versions of older legislation is by using an on-line subscription service, such as hsedirect. This gives access to the full text of HSE Guidance publications as well as legislation as amended. Day tickets are available as well as subscriptions are available.
The free Statute Law Database currently covers Acts in force at 1st February 1991 and the Acts and Regulations that have been produced since that date. The Acts have been revised to 2002 and should be completely up do date with revisions in 2008. Regulations are also being progressively updated.
The Office of Public Sector Information (OPSI) provides the full as made text of Acts from 1988 onwards and Regulations from 1987 onwards as they were enacted and these can be downloaded free of charge.
