Cleaning a heavily contaminated water-mix fluid sump - Flowchart

  1. Add system cleaner (a) and fungicide (b) to the existing fluid and circulate for time (c) ensuring that all fluid pipes are open.
  2. Empty the fluid/cleaner/fungicide mixture and manually clean out liquid and swarf using brushes scrapers etc.
  3. Spray wash the visible areas of the system using a high-pressure jet.
  4. Empty the machine and sump and rinse with dilute water-mix fluid
  5. Refill with system cleaner (d) and fungicide (e) in warms water and circulate for time (f)
  6. Clean all hose connections, filters, splash screens and tramp oil seperators
  7. Empty the machine and fill with new water-mix fluid at the supplier's recommended concentration.
  8. Put the machine back into operation and test the fluid for bacteriological contamination using a dip slide (link to MW5)
  9. Carry on using the machine if the dip slide indicates good control of bacteria. Repeat the cleaning process if the dip slide indicates poor reasonable control.
  1. System cleaner: amount to add = ___% by volume (__ litres).
  2. Fungicide: amount to add = ___% by volume (__ litres).
  3. Circulation time = at least __ hours with all fluid pipes open.
  4. System cleaner: amount to add = __% by volume (__ litres).
  5. Fungicide: amount to add = ___% by volume (__ litres).
  6. Second circulation time = no more than __ hours.
