Consultation - Guidelines for the safe operation and management of escalators and moving walks
Comments requested from Local Authority Enforcement Officers by 28 November 2008
The draft guidelines have been produced by a Review Committee comprising of owners, user groups, escalator manufacturers, installers, suppliers, maintenance companies, inspection bodies, the enforcement authorities, consultants and other professional bodies, which is chaired by the Health and Safety Executive. The guidelines will supersede the HSE Plant and Machinery Guidance Notes PM34 and PM45 and have taken account of other relevant European and national standards and documents relating to the safe use of escalators and moving walks.
