A revised version of the guide for employers on the Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969, HSE40 (rev2), has been published and is available from the HSE website: http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/hse40.htm.
A key feature is advice on complying with regulatory changes to ELCI that came into force on 1 October; these now permit ELCI insurance certificates to be made available in electronic form (so long as relevant employees have reasonable access to it) and remove the requirement to keep copies of out-of-date insurance certificates.
HSE is publishing new good practice guidance on ‘Involving your workforce in health and safety’ on October 14th. It will help employers in their duty to consult and involve their employees on health and safety matters. The guidance concentrates on good practice based on the Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations 1977 (as amended), and the Health and Safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996 Small businesses may also find the good practice helpful along with employees and their health and safety representatives and trade unions.
A complementary guide containing both sets of regulations, a leaflet giving a brief guide to the law and a leaflet for small businesses are also available, all produced with helpful advice from Local Authorities.
HSE’s worker involvement website has been extensively revised and expanded. Further information and to order these publications see: www.hse.gov.uk/involvement/index.htm
