Fatal accidents and RIDDOR reports

HSE's Statistics Branch have been made aware of fatal incidents that have been investigated by local authorities, where updated details have not been notified to the Incident Contact Centre (ICC) after investigation. (For example incidents reported initially by the Emergency Services when full details were not available at the time).  All of the published accident figures, including fatalities, are produced using this information so it is important that ICC hold a complete data set.

Can you please check, were you are aware of such a fatality, that it has been notified to the ICC. This is particularly important for fatal accidents to the self-employed.
Following any investigation, if there are incorrect details on the RIDDOR forms, e.g. severity, reportability etc. please inform the ICC of any amendments.

Latex Gloves – Your opinion welcome by 28 November 2008

Latex allergy in the workplace

The NHS has produced new guidelines regarding natural rubber latexPDF.

Following publication of these guidelines, HSE is reviewing its policy on controlling exposure to natural rubber latex proteins. Before the policy is finalised, we would welcome comments from Local Authority Environmental Health Officers. It would be most helpful if you could let us have your comments by 28 November 2008.

Please send your comments, via email to Megan.fisher@hse.gsi.gov.uk
