LAPS and the Home Authority Principle

The Local Authorities Coordinators of Regulatory Services (Local Government Regulation (LG Regulation)) promotes co-ordination of enforcement activity nationally on food and trading standards issues.

It does this partly through the operation of the Home Authority Principle where a Home Authority takes responsibility for locally-based companies such as manufacturers, importers and service based businesses.

Similar principles underlie both schemes and the LAs in LAPS may wish to contact and liaise with their equivalent Home Authorities to explore the potential for joint working on supply-chain initiatives or other synergies.
