How do I find a LAPS partner?
LAs and prospective partner organisations generally find a partner with whom they already have established some form of relationship (often following some form of inspection or enforcement action).
It is not a condition of the Scheme that the head office of the organisation is within the LA's boundaries but it is useful to consider how practical it will be to arrange for:
- the LA and partner organisation's representative(s) to meet together on regular basis
- the provision of a suitable venue for meetings
- the LA to meet key senior managers and gain access to the partner organisation's documentation.
Planning is essential to a good working relationship between the two sides. The LAU maintains an electronic database of unmatched LAs and partner organisations and can try to match potential LAPS partners together according to factors such as location, organisational size, resources and business sector.
