Fees for Petrol Licences
Health and Safety (Fees) Regulations 2007

This Local Authority Circular (LAC) provides technical guidance to Petroleum Enforcement Officers and others on health and safety issues associated with Petroleum.

  1. This circular is intended to inform Petroleum Licensing Authorities of the situation regarding the annual Health & Safety (Fees) Regulations which annually update the fees payable for petroleum licences. This circular replaces PETEL LAC Circular 65/5 issued April 2002 which is now obsolete.
  2. The Health and Safety (Fees) Regulations 2007 came into force on 6 April 2007. Copies of the regulations are obtainable from The Stationery Office and can be accessed on HMSO’s Legislation website.
  3. For your information the new fees are as follows:-
    MAXIMUM FEES PAYABLE TO KEEP PETROLEUM SPIRIT
    ITEM License to keep petroleum spirit of a quantity: PREVIOUS FEE NEW FEE
    Not exceeding 2,500 litres £34.00 per annum £39.00 per annum
    Exceeding 2,500 litres but not exceeding 50,000 litres £49.00 per annum £54.00 per annum
    Exceeding 50,000 litres £97.00 per annum £111.00 per annum
    Transfer of licence 8.00 8.00
  4. Licensing authorities are free to charge the new maximum fees as soon as they wish after the date the regulations came into force.
